The Collaborative Workroom

The Collaborative Workroom is our largest space and is open to the public, with limited reservations for events and classes. The tables can be moved but must be returned to their original spots afterward.

While we generally provide basic hand tools and prototyping materials for individual use, group use often exceeds what we have on hand. For large groups (more than 10 people) there may be a fee for material stock or additional staffing needed for your event request. If required, we’ll contact you after reservation for confirmation of the charges and use.

Reservations are not automatically approved and can take up to 4 business days for review. Foundry Users, Events, and Classes frequently use this space.

Please note that other users may be present during your event, but we can reserve tables for your group.

** The Workroom may only be reserved partially for most events. There will likely be tool use and other types of creation happening during most events.

First Time Users

Welcome! Thanks for considering the Foundry! We hope you enjoy your time here with our community. Here are a few tips for booking spaces with us. First, you must take our Orientation. It takes about 15 minutes and will help you get familiar with our spaces and answer most of your questions. Please sign up for an Orientation here.

A few other items:

  • You are welcome to use the tools, tech, and materials in our spaces, within reason. Our Scouts have the final say on what can be used. Feel free to work on your cool prototypes!

  • Most of our spaces have tech available. If you have questions, please ask a Scout.

  • We welcome classes, clubs, or groups from any BOW school. If you have specific needs, please reach out to us directly.

  • We do not have a cleaning crew. Please clean up, reset tables, and make the space ready for the next group.

Thanks!

We offer various support for instructors based on your class and needs. This might include providing space, tools, or materials, Scout assistance, one-off classes in Prototyping or specific tools, or ongoing consultation for you and your students. We'll help lighten your teaching load!

If you're a faculty member looking to teach your class in the Foundry, have a Foundry team teach a skill in your class, or want to learn more about teaching at the Foundry, please contact the Director. We can discuss your needs and how we can best assist you.
