Arduino 006: Motion Detecting Alarm

This will help you:

Use a motion sensor to create an alarm that goes off when someone walks by

Time: 1-2 hours / Level: B3

You should already:

• Know how to use a breadboard

• Complete the Arduino Startup activity

You Will Need:

• A computer

• An Arduino

• An A-to-B USB cable

• A half-size breadboard

• A motion sensor

• A piezo buzzer

Step 1: Motion Sensing

Assemble the circuit as pictured in alarm.png. Open motion_detect.ino and read the code to understand what is going on. Connect your Arduino and run the script.

Step 2: Playing an Alarm

Open motion_alarm.ino and read the code to understand what's going on. Connect your Arduino and run the script. Try changing the threshold value for the alarm going off.

Step 3: Finishing Off

Take a video of your circuit in use, showing off a quick demo of the functionality. Share it via the submission button below to get it featured on the Circuit Board!
